Dr. Jennifer Chung

TOPIC: Policy-borrowing from Finnish education: What can we learn from the Finnish example?

Dr. Dr. Jennifer Chung is focusing on the education system of Finland and Finland’s success in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Jennifer became a Senior Lecturer in 2017. 

Jennifer Chung received a Master of Science degree in Comparative and International Education at Oxford University. She continued at Oxford and completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree, focusing on the education system of Finland and Finland’s success in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).

Dr. Méndez-Romero

Méndez-Romero obtained his undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería Julio Garavito (2008), a specialization degree in Applied Mathematics at the Universidad Sergio Arboleda (2009), a Master’s degree in Mathematical and Computational Modeling at the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain, (2013) and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at the latter University (2015, dissertation cum laude). Since January 2017 he is a Professor of the School of Engineering, Science and Technology at Universidad del Rosario (Colombia). At the present time he is the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs of this university. His lines of research are mathematics education, teacher training, models of teacher professional competencies and teacher excellence, social justice in mathematics and technological mediation in education, among others.

Dr. Namita Maharjan

Dr. Namita Maharjan is currently an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering Department in National Institute of Technology, Nagaoka College, Niigata, Japan. She is working on the SDGs education materials development for engineering students.  

Dr. Paula Quadros-Flores

Dr. Paula Quadros-Flores has a doctorate in Education, specialising in Educational Technology. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Polytechnic of Porto, School of Education, where she coordinates the Scientific Technical Unit of Supervision in Pre-school Education and Teaching in the First Cycle of Basic Education.

Mr. Mehdi Shaahdadi Goughari

Mehdi Shaahdadi Goughari is an EFL teacher equipped with more than 12 years of hands-on experience in teaching. Master’s Degree in English Language Teaching from Islamic Azad University – Scienceand Research Branch. With a burning passion for ICT-assisted English Language Teaching and Learning, (currently working as an independent researcher in field of Digital Storytelling.)

Ms. Sally Abu Sabaa 

Sally Abu Sabaa is an EAP Manager at York University’s School of Continuing Studies. She has been at York University in a variety of administrative roles for over 15 years. She is also currently pursuing her PhD in PSE. She worked as an ESL/EAP/ELT instructor for over 5 years besides being a journalist for foreign press in her early days in Egypt. 

Ms. Agata Bogdańska

Ms. Agata Bogdańska is a Polish teacher at the European School of Varese (Italy). In the past, she worked, among others, as a lecturer in an international exchange at the University of Genoa and as a teacher at the Polish Consulate School in Milan. She has also been the author of numerous publications in the field of education.

Ms. Violetta Cupial 

Violetta Cupial is an Academic Language Instructor as York University’s School of Continuing Studies. She focuses her instruction of developing ELL’s academic writing and research skills in preparation for post-secondary studies. She is also working on research which involves improving first year university ELL’s experiences in first year university courses through interdepartmental collaboration and exploration of teaching narratives of instructors. 

Mr. Karthik Vetrivel

Mr. Karthik Vetrivel is a current high school senior at The Overlake School in Redmond, Washington (USA). He’s deeply passionate about exploring the intersections of technology, big data, and education. As such, his research is heavily involved with exploring the use of machine learning algorithms on large education datasets. He has been admitted to Caltech for the fall of 2021.
