Speech Title: A Social Justice Paradigm to promote self-actualisation among neurodivergent students in primary and post primary schools
Previously, Michele taught in mainstream primary, special class and special school settings. Michele was seconded as an Advisor to the Special Education Support Service (SESS) where she worked with teachers at all levels. In addition, Michele worked as a Part-Time and Guest lecturer in Universities across Ireland. Michele has presented at many national and international conferences on the topic of autism, inclusion and the teaching of relationship and sexuality education (RSE) for autistic students. Michele has also published journal articles in autism and Inclusion. More recently Michele has completed research on the teaching of RSE for autistic students and has presented the findings at International, and World conferences and is currently working on journal article based on this research.

She is currently heading the Special Education programme at the university and is currently working on some research projects involving individuals with special needs. She has a special interest in the area of autism. Eunice has been in the special needs field in Singapore for 15 years. In terms of the child/adults sector, she was a special education teacher, a principal of a special school and she also worked in the social service sector for the adult disability sector. Meng Zhang is a Clinical Assistant Professor of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at New York University Shanghai, an Adjunct Professor of Education at Shanghai Jiaotong University, and the Associate Editor of the International Journal of EAP. She received a Mater of Arts degree in TESOL from University of Southern California and a Ph.D. in Foreign, Second and Multilingual Education from The Ohio State University. Dr. Zhang has extensive experience in designing and teaching EAP and ESL courses in China and in the U.S. Her students are from a range of nonnative English-speaking countries and cultures. Dr. Zhang’s research interests include second language speaking and writing, academic socialization, and the design-based research methodology.
